The present box features intricate marquetry depicting patterned scrollwork on its top and sides and handsome striped banding around its lid. The lid is hinged and a mirror is nested inside. The base of the interior is lined with a checkerboard patterned fabric. A carved bone keyhole and accompanying key provide access.

A few dry cracks, minor flaws and repairs to the veneer.
